June 28, 2011 - As part of the Bibby Line Group, Newcastle's Bibby Consulting & Support, specialist in employment law and health and safety legislation, has helped win a national award recognising the charitable contributions of the business and its employees.
Bibby beat off stiff competition from such household names as the Royal Bank of Scotland, First Direct and Hilton Hotels to win the Employee Engagement category in the 2011 Business Charity Awards.
The award was given in recognition of Bibby and its employees raising almost £890,000 for 271 local and international charities. Judges praised Bibby's 'Giving Something Back' programme and said that the philosophy and sustained results delivered by the scheme were truly unique.
The scheme involved matched donations and fundraising activities at individual and local levels as well as at national events such as Dragon Boat racing and the Kilimanjaro Challenge. The company also encouraged employees to take part in volunteering activities which included schemes as diverse as local tree planting and building a school in Uganda.
