Hoppecke achieves first with ‘green’ visitor centre

March 18, 2011 - As a company committed to the environment and to minimising costs, Hoppecke Industrial Batteries has done what it believes no other company has done before.

Rather than dismantle its stand at a recent engineering exhibition in Birmingham, the firm decided to transfer the whole structure to its offices in Newcastle-under-Lyme. This involved several fork lift trucks – powered by Hoppecke batteries of course – and even a high-profile police escort up the M6.

The stand structure is now being used as a visitor centre where customers can see a showcase of Hoppecke’s equipment and systems.

Centre-stage is the company’strak® air system which is becoming the industry standard for battery recharging. Combining energy efficiency with simple but powerful equipment management, trak® air helps forklift truck fleet owners to reduce their carbon footprint, cut battery replacement costs, save on energy bills, use less water, and keep downtime for forklifts to a minimum. The visitor centre also features Hoppecke’s high frequency chargers which are fitted with a micro-processor that acts as a data management system and reduces battery charging time by up to two and a half hours.

Hoppecke’s Non-Executive Director, Bernard Molloy says: “We’d always planned to re-cycle our exhibition stand in this way because it is a very cost-effective solution. These structures are expensive and would normally be thrown away so re-using this and extending the lifetime of it makes financial and environmental sense.”
