BRIGGS SEES RISE IN TRAINING REQUESTS

September 21, 2010 - Briggs Equipment has recently seen an upsurge in applications to attend its customised lifting equipment driver training courses. The West Midlands based materials handling equipment and service provider has over 12 years experience in delivering driver training programmes for UK industry.

The courses last from one to five days and can be completed on site or at one of Briggs’ training centres. The structure includes practical and theory tests, a thorough explanation of current legislation with a focus on workforce health and safety legislation and the operator’s safety code.

As Ken Stoll, EH&S Advisor for Briggs Equipment commented: “There is a statutory duty for employers to provide instruction and training on all matters of health and safety at work, including driver training.”

Briggs Equipment offers training on a diverse range of equipment including; Counterbalance forklifts, power pallets, rough terrain and telescopic units, mobile elevated work platforms and specialist plants.

“We’ve seen a significant rise in people attending our driver training courses over the past few months,” said Ken Stoll. “The need for companies to become compliant with Health and Safety legislation is ever more important, but we’ve also seen a rise in people wanting to re-train and up their key skills especially in light of the current economic and social climate.”

Qualification on the Briggs Equipment’s driver training courses comes with the industry leading RTITB (formerly The Road Transport Industry Training Board) certification and also NORS the National Operator Registration Scheme, which is the centralised validation, registration and certification scheme for all RTITB accredited training.

Dean Mansell, Technical Standards Manager for Briggs comments: “Our ability to tailor and customise courses to accommodate specific customer requirements has proved beneficial to the end user. Where many courses would simply deliver the fundamentals, clients who have invested in our value added training courses have experienced reductions in damage to product, equipment and building as a direct result of training received.”
