NATIONAL SKILLS ACADEMY FOR MANUFACTURING APPOINTS NEW PR AGENCY

The National Skills Academy for Manufacturing (The Skills Academy) is aiming to improve its profile in both the traditional media and online with the appointment of a new PR agency.

June 08, 2009 - From its offices in Staffordshire, Changeworks Communications will provide a range of services to The Skills Academy, including the development and management of an on-line media centre as well as more traditional marketing and PR functions.

Sue Tupling, Changeworks' managing director, explained: “We have been working with The Skills Academy since it was launched two-and-a-half years ago to provide the UK manufacturing with an independent body to promote effective, sector specific training and development.

“Initially we worked with them on developing a range of leaflets, brochures and other marketing communications material, and the Skills Academy was so impressed with our efforts they invited us to pitch for their PR as well.”

To win the contract, which as involves building relationships with the manufacturing trade press and national, regional and local media, Changeworks fought off competition from a number of leading London agencies.

“We are delighted to have won this latest contract and I believe it reflects the quality of our work to date and the innovative ideas we have for raising the profile of the Skills Academy in the print and broadcast media and online,” Sue continued.

“As well as producing press releases and case studies, we will be investing a lot of time in producing short videos and podcasts that can be accessed through the dedicated media centre as well as fully investigating the potential of the very latest social media.

“The work of the Skills Academy also fits nicely with that of our existing clients who have strong links to manufacturing,” she added.

Commented Emma Mulligan, head of business development at The National Skills Academy for Manufacturing, “Changeworks offered an innovative PR approach covering both traditional and new online PR methods.

“We were also impressed by their dedication and enthusiasm and look forward to working with them as we continue to help manufacturing companies to equip themselves with the skills they need to prosper in an increasingly competitive global marketplace.”
