May 12, 2008 - The brand of sideloaders and multidirectional forklift trucks formerly known as Irion, has been rebranded with the emphasis on that of its former parent, Baumann Sideloaders. Irion and Baumann machines were previously built alongside each other in the Baumann factory in Cavaion, Italy. Following the sale of the Irion name last year, the Italian manufacturer has opted to focus on its core Baumann Sideloader business.

The move has been mirrored by a change of trading name for Baumann’s sole UK distributor. From 1st April, Irion Sideloaders Ltd became Cooper Specialised Handling Ltd.

Cooper Specialised Handling now supplies and services Baumann products throughout the UK and Northern Ireland. Having nearly 30 years’ experience in the sideloader business and with a national network of specialist mobile engineers, Cooper SH is the UK leader in providing specialised handling solutions to the timber industry.

Managing director of Cooper SH, David Cooper, says, “Over the last 10 years our approach has been to specialise in the handling of long loads in the timber industry. Baumann has been arguably the world’s largest sideloader supplier over the past 40 years and we welcome the challenge of raising its profile in the UK market, which already has several hundred machines.

“As the sole UK distributor for Baumann sideloaders and multidirectional forklift trucks we only sell Baumann made by Baumann. There is understandable confusion when the Baumann badge is used on machines that are not actually the genuine article. But Baumann that is made in the Cavaion factory, with its forty year heritage of Italian design flair coupled with the best in German engineering, is synonymous with performance, reliability and rugged construction. These qualities are a perfect fit for timber and related industries.”

As part of its commitment to continuous improvement in the UK sideloader market, Cooper SH is launching a new range of Baumann sideloaders that meet the highest standards in safety, noise and vibration. The established HX, GX and GS ranges above 5 tonnes capacity now incorporates a new cab design which increases visibility and improves operator access; both of which are crucial in preventing accidents and improving safety when handling long goods in tight spaces.

The new cab design also significantly reduces noise and vibration levels, ensuring compliance with new legislation and increasing operator comfort. Mr Cooper adds, “By introducing this new range of products where the comfort of the operator is paramount, drivers are not only more comfortable in their truck, they perform their day-to-day tasks more efficiently and productively.”

Baumann sideloaders, which include 3 to 45t IC engine machines, 3 to 7t electric and the multidirectional four-wheel drive sideloader, have a rugged base construction, low maintenance requirements and are built to a high specification. To cater for a wide variety of applications there is a choice of four different models at the most popular 5 tonne capacity. Normal duty, heavy duty and extra heavy duty machines are available together with an option for long distance applications where customers may require machines to travel up to 40 miles a day.
