Briggs Equipment Parades Latest Products on Catwalk at IMHX Show

January, 2007 - Briggs Equipment UK, the UK’s sole national Cat® Lift Truck distributor, will be revealing its latest ranges of fork lift trucks at the IMHX 2007 in Birmingham this March. The two ranges on display will be the latest low-cost, high performance model of company’s 8-16t diesel counterbalance range, as well as examples of the new NR-N reach truck range, launched at the end of 2006. The new designs are the direct result of research and development and constant dialogue with truck operators to gain a real understanding of the improvements that will make the greatest impact on their needs and performance.

Briggs Equipment’s stand at IMHX*, which is two stories high and features a catwalk design, has been especially designed to feature models of the products in the two ranges. The company has also employed a dance team to perform unusual dance routines twice a day to entertain visitors to its stand.

Sue Myatt, Marketing Communications Manager at Briggs Equipment UK said: “We wanted to provide visitors to our stand with a really memorable experience at IMHX this year. All too often the stand designs at shows are mundane and ‘samey’. We believe our unique catwalk design and dancers match the agility and fluid performance of the Cat® Lift Trucks offered to all our customers.”

The latest model in the 8-16t diesel counterbalance range provides a lower cost of ownership, higher productivity and increased safety and comfort. The trucks can carry loads ranging from 8 – 16 tonnes and are all fitted with diesel engines. Design improvements have extended the service intervals to 500 hours and a tilt-able operator cabin compartment allows un-obstructive service, reducing down time.

Safety improvements to the design of the models in the range include a safety seat switch which prevents truck operation when the driver is not seated, low noise levels to aid operator comfort and advanced fingertip hydraulic controls which are mounted on an adjustable armrest for optimum load handling precision. An automotive style pedal layout and an adjustable steering post provide further operator comfort.

The N-RN fleet of trucks range from a 1400kg to a 2500kg model* and has a revolutionary new poweRamic mast design which gives drivers increased visibility as well as improving the truck’s load capacity retention, even at full operating height. Unlike other reach trucks, the mast’s channel section has the hydraulic cylinder and roller section as part of the same extrusion, giving greater compactness with increased strength. Its unique design is such that it does not impair the driver’s field of vision, so reducing the chances of having an accident dramatically.

Trevor Clifton, Technical Service Manager at Briggs Equipment UK commented: “We know from experience that the truck itself accounts for just 5% of the overall warehouse costs whereas labour accounts for about 60%. Therefore, by improving speed and productivity safely, we can save our customers money and ensure financial returns from the new machines.

“Drivers can operate more quickly and safely, carry heavier loads at greater height for a longer period of time, resulting in greater efficiencies in load handling and operation all round.”

*Briggs Equipment’s stand is located at Stand Number 17P150 during the IMHX show at the NEC, Birmingham from 13-16 March 2007.
