July 26, 2007 - Briggs Equipment UK, the UK’s sole national Cat® Lift Truck distributor, has unveiled its latest low-cost, high performance Cat® 8-16t diesel counterbalance trucks. The newly designed trucks are the direct result of constant dialogue with operators to gain a real understanding of the improvements that will make the greatest impact on their needs and performance.
The latest models in the 8-16t diesel counterbalance range provide a lower cost of ownership, higher productivity and increased safety and comfort. The trucks can carry loads ranging from 8 – 16 tonnes and are all fitted with diesel engines.
Trevor Clifton, Technical Service Manager at Briggs Equipment UK commented: “We have worked very closely with truck operators themselves because they are the ones who really know what makes the greatest difference. The latest model truly is the truck operator’s truck.”
Design improvements have resulted in service intervals being extended from 200 to 500 hours, minimising downtime and ensuring the owner gains maximum benefit from the machine.
Safety improvements to the design of the models in the range include a safety seat switch that prevents the truck operating when the driver is not seated, low noise levels to aid operator comfort and advanced fingertip hydraulic controls which are mounted on an adjustable armrest for optimum load handling precision. An automotive style pedal layout and an adjustable steering post provide further operator comfort.
In addition, a new design gives the driver better all-round visibility and roof bars are angled to ensure maximum visibility when working. The truck also meets the level III A EU emission standards that are due to come into force in 2008.
“Drivers can operate more quickly and safely, carry heavier loads at greater height for a longer period of time, resulting in greater efficiencies in load handling and operation all round,” adds Mr Clifton.
