July 23, 2007 - Briggs Equipment UK, the UK’s sole Cat® Lift Truck dealer, has won a five year contract worth approximately £500,000 to supply Uniq Prepared Foods with a range of materials handling equipment including counterbalance and reach trucks.
Following a competitive tender, the equipment will go straight into action at Uniq’s St Ivel site in Minsterley, Shropshire, to help move goods around safely and efficiently.
The St Ivel Site supplies a wide range of retailer brand desserts and yogurts to major multiples from the Minsterley location, including Marks & Spencer and Tesco. Over 500 people are employed at the site.
In addition to the competitive pricing structure offered by Briggs, the ability to supply comprehensive maintenance was a key driver behind Uniq’s supplier selection: “We have had equipment from Briggs before and invited them to tender for this contract which allows for the supply of 31 pieces of equipment,” says Adele Mills, Purchasing Manager at Uniq.
“Briggs offered us a competitive rate but the critical component of the deal was the level of equipment maintenance and support that Briggs can offer.” continues Adele. “Downtime is a cost we are keen to avoid as it affects capacity and productivity. We felt that Briggs Equipment offered the right deal.”
