September 06, 2007 - Briggs Equipment UK, the UK’s national Cat® Lift Truck dealer, has today announced a deal to supply specialist wine services company, CERT Group, with a fleet of Cat warehouse equipment for its new 195,000 square foot service centre at Hoddesdon in Hertfordshire.
The new Service Centre, which opened in June and boasts a total of 23,000 pallet locations, allows CERT to meet changing customer needs by providing extra storage capacity near London where there has been significant growth in demand for fine wines. Given CERT’s aim to provide customers with enhanced process efficiencies, whilst continuing to maintain the highest possible levels of service to tight time scales, Briggs Equipment was the natural choice. With its combination of high quality, reliable Cat warehouse equipment and dedicated, responsive service from Briggs’ service personnel.
Under the 60 month all-in maintenance contract, Briggs Equipment is supplying 11 Cat medium level order pickers and four NRN Cat Reach trucks.
Paul Pegrum, Briggs’ account manager, explains, “CERT needed absolute guarantee that the kit is as reliable as possible, so we ensured they had extensive demonstration of the kit before they used it. Each machine was on site several times for a couple of weeks so that each shift could try it. We also arranged a visit for CERT managers to one of our existing large warehouse sites to see Cat product in operation, lifting goods such as washing machines to heights of up to 12 metres. They were very impressed.”
Dave Rogers, Operations Development Manager at CERT Group, says, “Briggs worked with us from the early stages of the project, before the design of the centre was finished. They were flexible in accommodating our needs. The Hoddesdon centre is a key part of CERT’s growth strategy, allowing us to enhance the competitiveness of the fine wine operation and firmly establish CERT as the number one provider of distribution and storage services to the drinks industry. With Briggs as our service provider, we have absolute confidence in being able to meet these demands.”
The service contract includes between four and six annual preventive maintenance services for each truck, these regular inspections ensure that the work is done when it needs to be done. LOLER inspections as well as Thorough Examinations are also arranged by Briggs.
“However, CERT also needed to consider the whole package. Their time pressures and immediate call-off requirements, mean that they need reliability from the product and instant response from the service engineer. CERT know that if they have a problem, their dedicated Briggs engineer will be with them straight away. However our philosophy is prevention rather than cure. We make sure that our kit is as reliable as possible in the first place, by supplying a highly reputable brand in Cat and running an unbeatable preventive maintenance programme.” concludes Paul Pegrum.
