August 20, 2007 - The N-RN fleet of trucks range from a 1400kg to a 2500kg model and has a revolutionary new poweRamic mast design which gives drivers increased visibility as well as improving the truck’s load capacity retention, even at full operating height. Unlike other reach trucks, the mast’s channel section has the hydraulic cylinder and roller section as part of the same extrusion, giving greater compactness with increased strength. Its unique design is such that it does not impair the driver’s field of vision, so reducing the chances of having an accident dramatically.
Trevor Clifton, Technical Service Manager at Briggs Equipment UK commented:
“Drivers can operate more quickly and safely, carry heavier loads at greater height for a longer period of time, resulting in greater efficiencies in load handling and operation all round.”
Key development goals were met using the new material process, which have contributed to greater safety of the truck. These include increasing compactness of the assembly (the new assembly is 20% shorter), as well as increasing rigidity and buckling strength. The reduced component count leads to less wear and tear and means that the new truck is easier and more efficient to service.
Site Surveys
Briggs’ site survey is a thorough, written document which looks at applications and specifications across a site and assesses in detail the load and lifting characteristics of the equipment, the racking and palletisation requirements, layout and condition of the site. The site survey is an integral part of Briggs’ whole life cost approach to fleet management and is often the starting point for a long-term customer relationship. If the site survey is carried out thoroughly, it enables accurate safety recommendations for the type and number of trucks, tyres, and attachments required, as well as custom fittings such as speed limiters. As part of its wider scope it takes into account battery charging facilities, safe operator practice and operator training, and also considers the safe working conditions of the engineer working on site.
Briggs take a comprehensive, 'back to basics' approach to fully understand the site layout and the unique demands of the customer’s business, taking into full account the Health and Safety and regulatory framework.
