November 02, 2007 - To bring Briggs people and their families together, Briggs Equipment, the UK distributor of Caterpillar® Lift Trucks, recently held a family fun day at their site in Cannock.
The fun day, which took place on Sunday 14th October, included organised site tours where employees were able to proudly show their friends and family where they worked and how the business operates.
Attendees had a unique opportunity to trial the company’s products and show off their fork lift driving skills with a series of driver challenge competitions. These included the Tag ‘n’ Stack game and the ‘Wide’ game, which were designed to demonstrate the importance of safety and accuracy involved in driving and handling fork lift trucks. There was a bottle of champagne for each of the driving game winners. Kevin Roberts, a driver for Briggs who won the Wide game – which involved taking a wide load on a fork lift around an obstacle course - in 1 minute 31 seconds, commented, “It was great to be given the chance to show off my skills to my family and for them to see what a great company Briggs is to work for.”
As well as fairground attractions and children’s entertainment, there was also the opportunity to win a weekend break to Alton Towers. The whole event was organised and run by employees of the company, with the event attracting 465 people in total.
“It is a priority for us to make our people feel proud of working at Briggs and part of that is welcoming their families into the company. Briggs is part of the Sammons group which recognises the importance that the family plays in making our people and our business successful.” says Peter Fanning, Human Resources Director at Briggs Equipment.
