November 28, 2007 - Local materials handling company, Birchwood Mechanical, held its first customer networking day on Friday 16th November 2007. With over 48 local companies attending and taking part in the day’s activities, Birchwood spear headed this year's event with a simple yet powerful message of ‘Customer Intimacy: how to provide solutions that are focused on individual customer needs on a local scale’.
Birchwood’s reputation is built on its wealth of experience, independent advice, and its ability to supply and service a wide range of products. In line with this, a series of customer-focused seminars were run during the day, with experts from Birchwood, Gunn JCB, Combilift, Doosan and Pyroban sharing best practice advice on how to save materials handling costs, improve performance and stay health and safety compliant.
As well as giving its customers the opportunity to network with like-minded business people, Birchwood encouraged visitors to inspect new products, meet and talk to suppliers and get hands on experience of different types of equipment.
The day also served as a platform to launch the company’s new state of the art workshops and facilities. A series of customer ‘experiences’ were created during the day, including a time trial Highball Challenge driver competition and factory tours, giving attendees a chance to sample Birchwood’s modern facilities and excellent service first hand.
Tommy Haddock, general manager at Birchwood, comments, “At Birchwood we have a strong culture of putting customers’ needs first and sharing best practice. We wanted to give both existing and prospective customers a chance to really get to know us and to take away ideas and learning that would be of use to them when they get back to their own workplaces. I feel that everyone has left today with a powerful and positive message about what we can do to make their lives easier and work in partnership with them to enhance their businesses.”
As well as presenting a cheque for £2,000 to the Willowbrook Hospice, the company ran a prize draw competition for a chance to win a year’s free hire of a 2.5 ton fork lift truck. The winner of the Toyota diesel truck was Cliff Graham, managing director of West Coast Corrugated, manufacturers of high quality packaging. “Birchwood’s trucks have an excellent reputation for quality, durability and reliability. I am thrilled to have one free for a year, it will benefit my business immensely." said Mr Graham.
