March 17, 2008 - Briggs Equipment UK, the UK’s sole Cat® Lift Truck distributor and national materials handling service provider, will be revealing how it proactively meets the needs of the oil, fishing, distilling and utilities industries in Scotland at the SHD Scotland show in Glasgow this April.
Briggs has been operating out of a purpose built facility near Edinburgh for over 14 years, and provides increasingly specialist products and service support for the Scottish materials handling industry.
“Historically, a service engineer in the materials handling industry would service a small range of lift trucks usually from a single manufacturer,” says Grant Lockie, regional manager for Briggs Equipment in Scotland. “Today changes to the overarching service industry and the evolution of the materials handling sector means that suppliers need to proactively offer a range of handling equipment and be able to service what they sell.”
Briggs Equipment’s stand at SHD Scotland will showcase the company’s Truckcare programme which is a flexible and proactive service for customers who require maintenance of all their ancillary equipment.
“We have a well-established and loyal customer base in Scotland and we want to provide visitors to our stand with a flavour of the breadth and depth of our product and service offer in this country,” adds Grant Lockie. “To remain competitive, it is critical that a leading materials handling supplier can offer a local handling solution and provide lift truck products as well as auxiliary equipment. Increasingly, customers also recognise the economic and administrative benefits of outsourcing a diverse range of equipment and service support from one supplier.”
Briggs will also be featuring some of their latest products at the show. The 1500kg to 16 ton N Range diesel counterbalance trucks provide lower cost of ownership, higher productivity and increased safety and comfort. Design improvements have extended the service intervals to 500 hours.
The revolutionary PoweRamic mast design gives operators increased visibility as well as improving the truck’s load capacity retention, even at full operating height. In addition, the particularly low emission levels on the Cat trucks, allow customers to run a diesel fleet indoors and still be at 50% of the EC directive on emissions.
The Cat ® NRN Reach truck range from a 1400kg to a 2500kg model and has some additional in-built features to help manage safety in the warehouse. The progressive steering technology on these trucks slows down the steering wheel reaction at faster speeds, making the truck more stable.
The safety curve feature also slows down the truck when the driver turns into a very sharp curve. The NRN Reach truck’s in-built technology automatically reduces the truck’s speed when working at height with heavy loads. It also adapts the driving speed to the lift height and even the operator’s skill level, ensuring that the speed of the truck is limited or reduced at higher lifting heights or according to the experience of the driver.
* Briggs Equipment is located at stand number 33 during SHD Scotland at the SECC, Glasgow from 22-23 April 2008.
