Innovative technology supplied by Briggs Equipment is helping one of the UK’s leading recycling and waste management companies to save around £220,000 over the next five years. Just months after installing Briggs’s state-of-the-art Speedshield system, Viridor has reduced damage costs by nearly 75 per cent, and it is looking forward to further savings due to a reduction in downtime and greater efficiency.

Working a demanding haulage operation, transporting a variety of goods throughout the UK and Europe, Northamptonshire-based Knights of Old has seen its turnover triple in the past seven years. In 2009, facing 16 per cent year on year growth, it needed a materials handling partner that could offer an innovative solution to meet the demands of such growth challenges.

Briggs Equipment has renewed a four-year contract with Palletways, which includes a brand new fleet of 54 LPG Cat® Lift Trucks. Briggs helped Palletways shave almost half a million pounds off the operational cost of the fleet by flexibly renegotiating contract terms from 36 months to 48 months and moving to LPG fuel.

FLEET DIVERSITY HELPS ACHIEVE GROWTH IN FURNITURE MANUFACTURE – Senator International
Briggs Equipment has aided Senator International’s year on year growth by helping to make adaptive changes to their warehouse fleet. Briggs recommended a fleet that could handle the diversity of Senator’s operations and simultaneously achieve a significant increase in the number of pallet movements.
ACHIEVEMENTS - Increased pallet movements by almost 100%, maintained close to 90% capacity utilisation on racking space, 98% uptime on machines and improved stock accuracy over 98% average.
THE ACID TEST FOR LIFT TRUCKS – Polyflor
Polyflor let its operators decide which forklift was up for the job of handling 66,000 tonnes of vinyl product across 10,000 pallet locations. After being short-listed down to six, Briggs Equipment won the deal after the operators found that the Cat product worked best with heavy handling. They found that the Cat product had excellent manoeuvrability and was robust in the applications.
ACHIEVEMENTS – Helped Polyflor achieve a good measurement and reporting system.
BRIGGS EQUIPMENT PROVES “JUST THE JOB” FOR WICKES DISTRIBUTION – Wickes
Briggs Equipment has worked with home improvement giant Wickes to address certain issues, such as communications and multiple manufacturing sources that can result in preventable costs.
ACHIEVEMENTS - Reduced maintenance costs of some £150,000 per annum across Wickes’ four sites and improved the environmental impact of the fleet and risk management.
